We have confirmed from 2 registrants and the Florida Action Committee ( floridaactioncommittee.org )
that Greece is now turning away registrants based upon Angel Watch notification. We believe his is a
violation of European Convention on Human Rights https://www.echr.coe.int/documents/convention_eng.pdf
So why are they now turning away offenders? Where they allowing offenders in recently?
Can you please include information on the reasons why people are turned away and/or their convictions?
Perhaps they turn away a rapist or child rapist and make exceptions for lesser charges that didn’t result in a prison sentence.
If Greece is still part of the European Union, they cannot legally refuse anyone whose actual offense occurred 9 years and 364 days ago, because they must abide by the European Union Law that stipulates full freedom with no registration for those who do pass their ten year mark successfully without committing a other sexual offense! My advice would be to enter Europe through Stockhölm, and then fly on to Greece! Then, you would not need to clear customs as you would be flying out of and into domestic Airports!
Spain tried (hard!) to turn me away, they tried to use that I did not have enough cash and my itinerary was not set, which was a lie. I hired a local attorney, while I was in airport jail, was able to get my brother to transfer money and get my other travel arrangements in place so they had no recourse, but they still said no. My attorney went to an all night court, they have those, and that judge said I could enter the country, even after that, they went back to the judge and tried to tell them the ‘real’ reason which at that point the judge said it was too late and they should have presented at that time. I did some other travel and tried to find alternatives to not fly thru Spain again to come home, thinking it would be just a layover I would be ok, but as I entered, had to go thru passport control again and luckily, I had the ruling from the judge and that I was flying to Germany – he called his supervisor and finally I was able to go on.
DO NOT TRY TO ENTER EUROPE THRU SPAIN! My attorney said the same thing about the EU laws, etc, but when the notice goes out to them, they don’t give a crap, they lied and broke their own laws to try to keep me out. I have thought about taking action but not worth it and if I ever want to go back, I will fly into Portugal, which was no problem before and then take a train to avoid the airport in Spain. I have read all the horror stories about being held, interrogated, etc, it sucks, they searched me, took all my electronics and most of my personal belongings and was held in a locked room with a few others that were being deported. Food was disgusting, and it was the first time I had been locked up overnight my whole life – the registry isn’t punishment? Really, being locked up, losing $500 in attorney fees, lost time for vacation and an event I was expected at – if this isn’t punishment, I don’t know what is – I did NOTHING wrong.
FYI no matter WHERE you are traveling, READ THE COUNTRIES ENTRY REQUIREMENTS. Make sure you bring lots of cash, have your whole plan set (can always change after you enter) or have a separate one, wear a smart watch (they won’t likely take that, that has wifi/cellular – I will be buying an Apple watch the next time I travel), have all your phone contacts, including an attorney – for that country if you are that concerned, WRITTEN down, not just on your phone, and ALWAYS fly into a country you KNOW you can get into. If you do get deported, they will fly you to that country, not back to the US and can still travel somewhere else.
For those who get their passports taken and need the stamp, get the XL large book, there are 52 pages and the stamp is on the last page, not the back cover. On the front, it says to ‘see page XX’ but I don’t think anyone reads that and with so many pages, unlikely anyone would ever see that last page – hopefully you fill up your passport to get to that point, but this will minimize anyone seeing that stamp of horror.
Good luck to anyone who is traveling and I am happy to give more details about the other 9 countries I have traveled to since I have been semi-out of the system
Thank you for this update

Hi Paul,
I was wondering if you had any info on entering the Czech Republic. I don’t see it in the travel matrix. I know they’re a Schengen country, so I don’t expect any issues, but would love any info you might have in it. Thanks!!!
Todd,
Thank you for thoroughly sharing your experience and your preservence.
What country, in your opinion, would be the best to resolute as an SO?
Thank you.

Great Post! Once in Portugal, France, Sweden, the super friendly countries who welcome RSOs, you can go to Spain and Greece! I really hope that Scotland and Ireland open up for us! I have been off the radar since leaving NYC in February 2019, and the Pandemic let us stay in countries far longer than we would have ever expected to…
Hi Me and my husband are planning to travel to Netherlands , .. Netherlands country is ok for SO?
Hi, hows your Netherland Trip? They let you in?
I was able to go through customs in Amsterdam while traveling through France. No problems
Yes.. The Netherlands is GOOD!
I really would like more details about this, as I am the son of a Greek immigrant and eligible for Greek citizenship, but the process of obtaining my Greek passport is taking years. I would like to visit Greece again in the meantime with my US passport, but I will at some point be on the Angel Watch list.
My daughter and I are traveling to Greece in 2023. Should we enter by another country first?
